Meeting the requirements of Ofsted and following the latest guidelines from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), this first aid course is perfect for those working in childcare or with children. A blended option combining 6 hours of online learning and 6 hours of face-to-face training is available.

Upon completion of the 12-hour (2-day) course, candidates will be able to:

  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider
  • Safely manage an incident
  • Deal with an unresponsive breathing infant or child (top-to-toe survey and recovery position)
  • Deal with a non-breathing infant or child (CPR and chain of survival)
  • Safely use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
  • Provide first aid to an infant or child who is suffering from:
    • choking, external bleeding, burns and scalds, shock, seizures, bites and stings
  • Provide first aid to an infant or child who is suffering from suspected injuries to:
    • bones, muscles and joints, head and spinal injuries, chest injuries
  • Provide first aid to an infant or child suffering from:
    • electric shock incidents, effects of heat or cold, eye injuries, poisoning, anaphylaxis, suspected major illnesses
